Peace Education in Afghanistan

In 2001 Yar Taraky was contacted by a group of Canadian professors from McMaster University and an Afghan community developer, who wanted to produce a peace education booklet for Afghan refugee children in Pakistan. After initial agreements, Yar Taraky was asked to develop scrips and drawings for the 16 peace study booklets. The work started and regular meetings took place on weekly basis.

Soon the Taliban regime was toppled and the new government took the position. The team decided to move the project into Afghanistan. In 2003 the series was completed and some booklets were published. Unfortunately, the wave of corruption and negligence also hit this project and the stories did not find their way to affected young Afghans.
